February Meeting Minutes

Officer Reports
Seneschal (Yana)-- 
Chatelaine-- Marina is new officer
Pursuivant-- Bran is new officer
Webminister (Yana) -- Web hosting contract renewed
($60); Yana reimbursed by group. Updating activities
list.
Arts and Sciences (Milly) -- Will likely be scheduling
dance practices, will report back to group. Recorder
group has interest in adding vocal and other music
forms. A&S Sunday on the 19th, will feature music and
sewing.
Exchequer (Bera) -- Domesday turned in.

Member Activities
Bridget ni Phelan got Bardic prize at Maidens
Marina received an AoA
Yana received an APF

Maidens PR stuff given to Marina.
Marina's name has passes (Marina de Valencia)

Maidens Wrap-up and discussion

Problems with hotel
Friday--screwed up room reservations, hotel following
up on it
Maintenance complained that kids running around
unsupervised
Next time-hotel staff will have a sit-down briefing
Restaurant screwed up reservations on Saturday
evening.

Already received 2007 proposal from hotel
80 rooms sold
Tables were a gift (free)
Got money back for doing restaurant promo
544 attendees (51 kids)
$5176.00 income
$1950.00 profit, not counting donation to St Carol and
non-member surcharge
Expect event worksheet with Quarterly report

A&S Contests
Auk in Any Medium (9 entrants, no youths)
Adult winners--tie: 
Kendrick the Tinker (Midrealm Penguin Guard)

Youth winner: Ping (Amber Holt) (Rapunzel Penguin)

Complaints
Bar closed early (1 am); wasn't supposed to
People were in Mall area after it was closed
Unregistered people (moderns) wandering into hotel
conference areas
Water stations were not staffed in evening
There was no Commons area
No vegetarian option at lunch
There were kids unsupervised in the pool; too many
people in the hot tub in evening. Otherwise was fine,
everyone exited on time.
Injury during Dance in evening--Need to announce that
bare feet are not allowed, tape over any harp areas of
floor.

Possible solutions
Better signage
Dance in larger area during day
Move fencing
Need a Commons area
Could Troll be elsewhere?
Different floor configuration
There simply isn't better site in town for Maidens.
Schools no longer rent to outside groups, nor does the
Armory. With churches you usually need to be a member.
Civic Center is too small.

Contests: Well received, need better announcements
during day
Mall: No complaints from Mall, likely to get Mall next
year too, with fencing moved there.
Folo: Fighters loved the set up in the Mall
Yana: Fighters were unhappy having to fight under
public eye
Heraldry: Had volunteers (Kendrick, Alzbeta, Bran,
Cecila Shushwill). Try shifts of volunteers next time
and better signage
Gifting: need to pass hat to reimburse Folo
Bardic: Had to kick them off site! Very popular.


Upcoming
Exchequer meeting at next A&S day
Folo has signed the contract for next year's Maidens
(2007) with the Lincoln Historical Hotel, Yana needs
to countersign as seneschal
