We will be hosting a Skaldic event on Saturday, 23 September at our house, from about 6 to 9 pm. Neither SCA nor Regia, strictly speaking. We hope to concentrate on story-telling. No music, no singing (chanting of alliterative verse allowed), only period Western European and original compositions in the style of period Western European. Period is from 800 to 1300 (to include sagar and eddic verse; earlier (or later) tales done in a period style are welcomed). If all the restrictions (this is in response to a few complaints about non-period material at bardic circles), feel free to drop me a line to get further information. Costume not required; we'll be outside in the back yard if the weather is nice, in the hot tub if we're
small and friendly enough and in the front room if the weather blows and you're not allergic to cats.

We'll be trying something similar at the Micel Folcland Hearth Night in Homewood, Ill. on 30 September. This will be a Regia Anglorum event.

Cheers, Folki Rusli
